Quiet time, sort of…

I like to get up early. I get it from my mama. I can remember as a child her getting up between 3-4 to get her day started. I thought she was crazy. Well guess who does the same thing now…🙋🏼‍♀️. On days I’m slaying it my alarm goes off at 3:45 and I head to the gym. I feel more accomplished and get more done when I get up early. Most importantly I enjoy my quiet time…drinking my coffee, Roscoe sitting in my lap and my Bible in my hand. It’s my quiet time with God.

My son is also like his mama and gran and is an early riser too. So this morning my day started at 4:30. As I’m rustling around in the kitchen fixing my coffee… I turn to see my Bo rounding the kitchen counter saying “I want breakfast”. After arguing with him about going back to bed 🙄, I finally gave up and got him breakfast. I sat to have my “quiet time” with God, although I was really thinking “we will see how quiet this will be with him up”. So I sat, with my coffee (Roscoe this time was anxiously sitting by Bo hoping for him to drop his breakfast) and started my daily devotional. Oddly enough my devotion was titled “Not quite so quiet”. It reminded me that we can reach God anytime of day or night! We don’t have to only seek him during our “quiet time”. It’s ok, that life interrupts us sometimes, you can seek him at work, the grocery store, an elevator, ball practice, dance practice, while your kids are eating breakfast way to early….ANYTIME you want!!! Isn’t that amazing?!? Simply talk to God anytime you want, thats just how good God is, allowing us to come to him 24/7. It’s ok that life gets busy, you can still reach Him.

When I finished reading, I just smiled and said, “thank you Jesus”. About this time Bo was climbing in my lap. So, I used this opportunity to tell him why I get up so early to have my quiet time with God. Then the sweetest thing happened. He got up out of my lap and went to get his Bible. He said “mama, I’ll read my Bible too”. ❤️

So here he sat in my lap. God just used this time, my quiet time that I am selfish with, to teach me a lesson. You see it’s not “my” time, it’s HIS. I was able to teach my son about how important it is to study Gods word AND that we can talk to God anytime of day or night!!!

So we sat and read his favorite Bible story- David and Goliath a few times and then he pretended to read the rest of his Bible. THANK YOU JESUS for these precious moments that are only from YOU. I will cherish these moments.

Now as I lay here typing what’s on my heart, I’ve got to see if I can get my now sleeping boy back to bed without waking him. 🤷🏼‍♀️.

If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay ahold of me.

Psalm 139 9:10
